Job description

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a passionate and skilled English Teacher to join their dedicated team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to inspiring students and making a real impact in the classroom.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to stretch and support learners of all abilities. The role would suit a creative and reflective practitioner who is eager to contribute to curriculum development and wider school life.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of a diverse student cohort

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback

  • Contribute to the English department’s collaborative planning and resource development

  • Take an active role in supporting the school’s ethos and commitment to high standards

  • Participate in school events, meetings, and ongoing CPD opportunities

The school is looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS (or equivalent) and has experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Has a strong understanding of the GCSE English curriculum

  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and enthusiasm for literature and language

  • Possesses strong classroom management skills and a positive approach to behaviour

  • Is a team player with a willingness to contribute to the wider school community

This is a full-time role, suitable for both experienced teachers and confident ECTs looking to begin their career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
