Job description

Location: Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough

Salary/Benefits: £33,048 – £38,169 per annum (DOE and qualifications), plus up to £3,000 market supplement for suitable candidates. Benefits include 45 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, Teacher’s Pension Scheme, retail and leisure discounts, and excellent professional development opportunities, including access to further college courses. (Salary and leave based on a qualified lecturer profile.)

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a well-established Further Education provider to recruit a Lecturer in English to join a thriving English & Maths department.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to support learners in achieving their full potential within a supportive and progressive FE environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive English lessons across a range of levels, supporting learner progress and achievement.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to curriculum design, innovation, and quality improvement, ensuring alignment with national priorities and learner/employer needs.
  • Student Support: Provide academic tutorials, constructive feedback, and pastoral support to encourage positive behaviour, attendance, and independent learning.
  • Collaboration & Safeguarding: Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health & safety.
  • Professional Practice: Maintain up-to-date teaching practice, support colleagues where appropriate, and contribute to wider organisational initiatives.

About You

We are seeking a passionate English specialist who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and supporting a diverse cohort of learners.

Essential requirements:

  • A degree or Level 5 qualification in English
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd), or willingness to work towards one
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)

Experience & Skills:

  • Recent experience teaching GCSE English
  • Strong understanding of FE sector requirements, including safeguarding
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organisational skills
  • Confident in using Microsoft 365 and digital learning platforms

  • Inclusive, student-centred approach
  • Reflective and committed to continuous improvement
  • Collaborative and professional in practice

Additional requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Flexibility to travel across multiple sites
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
