Are you looking for a permanent role with school but struggling to get your foot in the door? Do you have skills and experience working with people with SEN and Mental Health Issues?

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to join a busy team of staff and help with behaviour management and support. The school is based in Wakefield (WF1) and is easily accessible by public transport. The role is full time and the right candidate will have the opportunity to go onto a permanent contract with the school if successful.

This is a demanding role that requires a high level of patience, energy and enthusiasm. We welcome applications from those with all levels of experience as we can provide opportunities to develop your skills through our CPD Academy - our partnership with Leeds Trinity University has provided a number of training opportunities including courses in Assessment for Learning, Effective Behaviour Management and Curriculum Development.

The school is an Alternative Provision that provides education to students who have a range of complex needs, Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. These students are very vulnerable and come from disadvantaged backgrounds, there may be an element of challenging behaviour so you must have a resilient, calm and confident personality.

We are looking for someone:

  • With a strong and resilient personality in what can be a very challenging role
  • Who has the passion and desire to have a positive impact on a pupil with SEN
  • Who is able to work with a pupil 1:1 or in a group setting
  • With Team Teach or MAPA equivalent (desirable but not essential)

If you have experience in Residential Care, Support Work, Special Needs, Mental Health or Youth Work then we encourage you to apply.
