The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Support teachers in creating a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with learners and encourage confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
• Work with small class groups, typically consisting of 5-8 pupils, as well as providing occasional 1:1 support.
• Assist children with a range of additional learning needs, including communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and developmental delays.
• Implement personalised learning and behaviour strategies tailored to each learner's individual needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
• Contribute to a warm, inclusive, and nurturing school culture where every child is encouraged to succeed.
• support with personal care roles throughout the day. 

About the School

This specialist SEN school supports learners aged 3-11 years with a diverse range of Additional Learning Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, and physical disabilities.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Early Childhood Studies or a related child development, early years, or education-based subject.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional learning needs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners.
• A patient, resilient, and compassionate approach.
• The ability to remain calm and adaptable in challenging situations.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willingness to register.
• Previous SEN experience is beneficial but not essential. We welcome graduates who are eager to learn and develop within the role.
