Job description

Early Career Teachers

Teaching Personnel in partnership with specialist provisions in the Preston, Chorley and Leyland areas are looking to hire ECTs on a full-time/part-time basis. The responsibilities within the roles will vary from whole class teacher, PPA cover, intervention, learning support depending on the needs in the school as well as the existing timetable/ staffing structure. These are long-term and short-term opportunities, as well as part-time and full-time roles, meaning there is flexibility to suit your needs.

These provisions are all specialist provisions that cater for pupils with additional needs aged between 4-16 years. The majority of the pupils in each provision will have their own EHCP which will need to adhere to daily to ensure all their needs are being met. The provisions support both their educational and holistic development, they aim to provide their pupils with essential life skills before they continue their journey onto further education.

As stated, the roles vary dependant on the needs of the provision, with flexibility to suit your needs. As an Early Career Teacher within an SEN provision, you will be required to be able to deal with challenging situations in a calm and professional manner as some provisions are SEMH meaning the pupils can display challenging behaviours. Other provisions range from MLD (mild learning difficulties) PMLD (profound mild learning difficulties) SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) and PRU (pupils referral units). Each different provision provides specific support for their pupils, support can range from educational interventions to support their educational development or interventions that support their well-being and overall holistic development, such as life-skills, cookery, sports, out of provision excursions.
