EAL Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a large 2 form entry primary school located in the S4 area of Sheffield who require an EAL specialist Teaching Assistant for a full time role to start in September 2020.

The school has a higher than average intake of EAL students with a range of languages spoken including Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu, Roma, Polish and Slovak. We are seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant with previous experience in supporting students who are new to England or speak English as an additional language. The successful candidate will be experienced in using alternative means of communication including visual aids, basic makaton and commuinicate in print. The ability to speak an additional language is benefical, however not essential for this role. 

The role will consist of supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis through inspiring and engaging intervention in order to enhance speech and language development. You will work alongside a class teacher to identify individual needs of the students and create innovative interventions to enable students to access the curriculum. Experience working in a school based setting or as a translator is essential for this role.
