Design Technology Teacher

Location: Handsworth, Secondary School

Start Date: January 2026 or potential to start earlier 

Salary: MPS/UPS dependent on (experience) 


 

About the role: 

Are you a passionate and skilled Design and Technology Teacher looking for a rewarding short-term opportunity? A secondary school in Handsworth is seeking a specialist teacher to deliver the DT curriculum across KS3-KS4. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire students, as well as marking, tutor group duties, and supporting the wider school. This is a fantastic opportunity to help students develop both their technical and creative skills while contributing to a supportive and high-performing school community.

Role responsibilites: 

  • Teach practical and theory lessons across the DT curriculum. 

  • Plan and deliver lessons that inspire creativity, problem-solving and technical skills.

  • Assess, monitor and support student progress, providing constructive feedback.

  • Ensure high standards of health and safety in practical workshops.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives where appropriate.

Role Requirements: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary school

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students

  • Commitment to the school’s ethos and student-centred approach

  • Current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
