Pupil Behaviour & Well-Being Mentor

Are you ready for a new challenge supporting the mental well-being of children?

Would you like to support students returning to school after lockdown?

Are you confident supporting individuals with challenging behaviour?

 

Children have found it difficult settling back into school after the disruption caused by lockdowns and require support integrating themselves back into their curriculum. We are offering the successful candidate the chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Pupil Behaviour and Well-Being Mentor for a large Secondary school in Newport.  This role is full time and will be until the end of the academic year.  There will also be an opportunity to join the school on a contract pending a review in July.

Start date: April 12th

GBP300 - GBP350 weekly pay - PAYE and no umbrella fees!

What does a Pupil Well-being Mentor do?

Supporting students with guidance on personal circumstances, mental health, behavioural problems within school, academic attainment, attendance and general welfare.

You will liaise with other members of staff to ensure that educational setting of the students effectively meet their needs and when appropriate communicate with students' families.

You will offer support to students on a 1:1 and small groups basis.

 

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate: 

 

  • Experience with well-being and SEND support (personal, voluntary or professional)
  • Calm nature and proactive approach
  • A keen interest in children's mental health
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour

THRIVE, ELSA, MAPPA or TEAM TEACH qualifications are desirable but not a requirement

  • Education Psychology
  • Youth and Community Work
  • Criminology and Sociology
  • Counselling
  • Social Work

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
