Job description

An opportunity to join the staff at a school in Stockport has arisen. This position would be well suited to an individual who is looking to start a career within the education sector. As a cover supervisor, this presents a great opportunity for those who are wanting to gain invaluable classroom experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply, as well as those who have experience working within a youth/community setting. As a cover supervisor, it is important to note that the individual would not be required to undertake any marking/grading of work. Instead, the role focuses on ensuring that pupils are focusing on completing set work/tasks within a lesson. Given that this is the case, it is vital that the individual is able to efficiently manage behaviour expectations, in line with school policy. The individual will be confident in dealing with children between the ages of 11 and 16. The role is a short term position.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Working at a school ranked ‘Good’ by Ofsted – additionally, Ofsted have noted that “pupils learn well and make excellent or good progress in most subjects.
  • Working with pupils who have been highly commended by Ofsted, displaying “exemplary conduct both in lessons and around the school site.
  • Being able to undertake regular training and development, on various issues: e.g Safeguarding
  • Pay - GBP275-350 per week, in line with relevant experience.

The school is located just 11 miles outside of Manchester City Centre. The school has it’s own bus station with links to Cheadle Hulme train station is in very close proximity to the school.
