Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Waterlooville area. This full-time position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience or explore a potential career in teaching.

About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for supervising classes of students aged 11–16 in the absence of the class teacher. You will ensure pupils remain engaged with pre-prepared lesson materials while maintaining a calm and focused learning environment across a range of subjects. The role may also include providing support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and supervise pre-set lessons across various subjects for students aged 11–16.

  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, following the school’s policies and expectations.

  • Keep students engaged, focused, and on task throughout the lesson.

  • Offer appropriate support to SEN pupils where needed.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil behaviour, engagement, and progress.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable, particularly experience supporting SEN pupils.

  • Confidence in managing classroom dynamics and adapting to different situations.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students.

  • A genuine enthusiasm for education and supporting young people’s learning and development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
