Cover Supervisor – Long-Term – Tameside Secondary School

Position: Secondary Cover Supervisor
Location: Hyde, Tameside
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £90–£110 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, ongoing (term-time only)

A supportive, mixed 11–16 school in Hyde is recruiting a full-time Cover Supervisor to manage classroom delivery across various subjects in the absence of the regular class teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring teacher, ECT between placements, or experienced cover professional.

Day-to-day duties:

  • Supervise pupils in the classroom following a set lesson plan

  • Ensure behaviour is managed according to school policy

  • Provide brief feedback to the absent teacher on lesson completion

  • Establish a calm, respectful learning environment

  • Support with admin, lunch duty or other school functions as needed

Candidate Criteria:

  • Previous experience working with young people (in schools, sports, or care)

  • Degree-level education or Level 3 qualification minimum

  • Confident classroom presence and strong communication skills

  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
