Youth workers and sports coaches needed to work in Tameside secondary schools as PE cover supervisors and learning mentors. Are you looking to pursue a career in education or teaching?

Teaching Personnel provide school based experience required to further your career or to support a teacher training application. As a sports coach or youth worker you will have the appropriate transferable skills to work with students that need a role model figure in the learning mentor role or to control students in the classroom as a PE cover supervisor.

Cover supervisors take on the role of a teacher delivering sports lessons in Physical Education using lesson plans that have been set by the schools teachers. It is essential that students remain on task and are controlled through effective behaviour management skills. Teaching Personnel provide regular training courses on classroom and behaviour management that you will be able to access for free.

Learning mentors work with students on a small group and 1:1 basis that require additional support to ensure they are achieving and reaching expected levels of progress as they are engaged in their learning.

We currently support secondary schools in the local authorities of Tameside, Stockport and Manchester so if you are located in these areas and available for work please register an interest straight away.

Key features for sports coaches and youth workers;

  • Weekly pay, paid on a daily rate ranging from £60-£75 per day
  • First hand opportunities to work in secondary schools if you are pursuing a career in the education sector
  • Opportunities to access teaching personnel's training and development programmes
  • Working on a flexible basis with the opportunity to earn a school based contract

Essential criteria;

  • Previous experience of working a s a sports coach or youth worker
  • Suitable educational, character or work based references
  • Personality and ability to engage students between the ages of 11-16
  • Willingness to adapt to the role as requested by the school
  • Apply for a fully enhanced DBS certificate
