Cover Supervisor

Date posted : 08/11/19
£60 - 65 per day + Additional Benefits

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Are you experienced working in schools, but would perhaps like to take the next step?

Maybe you have applied to do a PGCE but are still unsure how to actually lead a class?

Perhaps you’ve already supervised a class but could use some training?

Teaching Personnel are offering FREE training to support candidates like you who want to gain hands on teaching experience.

We are actively recruiting new cover supervisors to work across our partner secondary schools in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly. Due to exciting new partnership agreements, we are the first point of call for a record number of comprehensive schools who use us as their preferred supplier of staff.

What does a cover supervisor do?

A cover supervisor is essentially someone who will cover a lesson in the absence of the regular class teacher. No qualifications are needed for this position, however it is vital that cover supervisors can demonstrate behaviour management, an ability to improvise and ensure the pupils are on task.

Work will already be set for you to deliver to the class, so don’t worry if the subject isn’t your specialty! The school are not expecting you to be an expert- they just want you to demonstrate a great attitude to ensuring learning standards are met at all times.

With more roles than ever, we are considering applicants from all experiences, subject specialisms and ambitions. We can also work around your availability, so if you are studying, have childcare commitments, or are not looking for full time work, we can find something that suits you. Full time roles are available and if you would like to shadow someone experienced in action before taking the helm yourself, then we can facilitate that too.

  • Full time and part time roles available
  • Applicants new to education are welcome to apply
  • Permanent contracts available after a probationary period
  • Immediate start date for the remainder of the academic year
  • Training and Support available

We are running a FREE CPD accredited course to help you develop  as a cover supervisor. If the role is still a bit daunting to yourself, or you want advice on how to act in certain situations, then this will be an excellent chance for you to hear it from an expert!

From November – July, the demand for cover supervisors in secondary schools soars. Rather than be thrown in at the deep end, we want you to have the opportunity to speak with an experienced cover teacher and go through a range of behavioural and hypothetical situations to ensure your success in schools this year.

The session will be held on Wednesday November 20th between 13:30 - 6:30. Usually at a cost of GBP30, we are hosting the session for FREE for a limited number of spaces in Cardiff. If you are interested then please apply.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
