Job description

 

Teaching Personnel is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cover Supervisor to join our team of support staff, helping a range of schools in your local area to cover their internal absences. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising the learning environment in the absence of a permanent class teacher. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for education and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students and staff.

Throughout this role, you will work on a flexible basis.

You will be paid between £85 and £100 per day.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment for students in the absence of their regular teacher
  • Distributing and collecting class materials, including textbooks, workbooks, and other resources
  • Facilitating students’ learning by ensuring that they are engaged in the tasks assigned by the absent teacher.
  • Maintaining discipline and managing behavioural issues as they arise
  • Providing support and guidance to students in need of additional assistance
  • Communicating with the class teacher regarding any concerns or issues that may arise during the lesson.
  • Collaborating with other support staff and teachers to ensure a smooth and successful learning experience for all students.
  • You will have no planning or marking responsibilities, you will be provided with pre-set work.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in an educational setting, preferably as a teaching assistant or cover supervisor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching styles and subject matters
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
