Job description

Cover Supervisor - Durham

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting full-time Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in and around Durham. This presents an excellent opportunity for experienced cover supervisors and aspiring educators to create meaningful impact within local classrooms. The successful candidate will oversee classes when regular teachers are absent, maintaining student engagement and ensuring completion of assigned work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee classes across different subjects and year groups (KS3 and KS4)
  • Facilitate pre-planned lessons and confirm student understanding of set tasks
  • Handle classroom behaviour to maintain a constructive and focused learning atmosphere
  • Report student progress and conduct to the absent class teacher
  • Support with administrative duties when needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 A*- C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths
  • Background working with young people in educational environments
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Capability to manage classroom behaviour effectively
  • Adaptability and flexibility across various classroom contexts
  • Dedication to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
