Graduate teaching assistant

Are you an ambitious graduate looking for a teaching assistant opportunity to support your applications to teacher training? Can you support students who are disengaged in school and work alongside a team of support staff to raise attainment in core subjects and improve behaviour?

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a nationally recognised Teaching school who have a number of vacancies and seek to hire individuals to the role of graduate teaching assistant. The school is based in Hull and supports others across the city, the immediate vacancy is for a teaching assistant of graduate background to join a large Alternative Provision north of Hull city centre. The role of graduate teaching assistant will require you to;

  • Support pupils and teachers in lessons (English and Math mainly)
  • Deliver work to small groups needing additional support with key curriculum areas
  • Lead during form time and providing Pastoral support to children where required
  • Follow the set instructions from Heads of department and Year group leaders
  • Undertake school training and fully adopt the Ethos every day

The position of Graduate teaching assistant will be full time Monday - Friday working the hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm each day. You will work alongside teachers in lessons, supporting groups of children and also tutoring on a 1:1 basis with specific areas of the curriculum. As a graduate you will be expected to raise children's aspirations and give them a firm interest in continuing on to further education or their chosen path after GCSE examinations, you'll work mainly with Year 10 and 11s within this teaching assistant position. Situated north of Hull city centre, this is a large mixed secondary school with well over 1400 pupils on roll, the school caters for a diverse range of pupils who vary in backgrounds both academically and socially. You will be given first rate support by teaching staff and the opportunity to apply for the schools teacher training programme from September 2019, graduates of all subject backgrounds and relevant A-levels are welcomed to apply.
