Seeking Experienced SEN Professionals for Flexible Classroom Support Roles

Teaching Personnel is currently building a pool of experienced Classroom Assistants to support specialist SEN and SEMH provisions across Street and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy the flexibility of supply work while continuing to make a meaningful contribution to the lives of children and young people with additional needs.

We work with a variety of specialist settings, meaning successful applicants will have access to numerous placements rather than being limited to one educational provision.

Because these assignments are often arranged at short notice, we are looking for professionals who can confidently step into a setting, establish positive relationships quickly and contribute from the moment they arrive.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Classroom Assistant, your role will centre around helping pupils engage positively with their learning and achieve their individual targets.

• Providing classroom-based support during lessons
• Assisting students with Autism, SEMH needs and learning difficulties
• Encouraging participation in educational activities
• Supporting communication and social interaction
• Helping maintain a calm and structured learning atmosphere
• Reinforcing positive behaviour strategies
• Supporting personal development and independence
• Working alongside teaching staff to ensure pupils receive the support they require

Assignments can vary, providing excellent opportunities to develop your experience across different specialist environments.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience within SEN, SEMH, education, care or youth support settings
• A flexible and adaptable approach
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• Confidence supporting pupils with complex needs
• The ability to remain calm under pressure
• A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed

This role is particularly suited to candidates who enjoy variety and are comfortable working across multiple specialist provisions.

Why Join Teaching Personnel?

• Weekly PAYE payments
• Flexible working arrangements
• Access to free CPD courses and specialist training
• Dedicated consultant support throughout your journey
• Pension contributions
• Opportunities to secure long-term and permanent positions
• Ongoing safeguarding training and compliance guidance
• Access to a wide network of SEN and SEMH schools

If you're ready to put your experience to good use in rewarding specialist education environments, we'd love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
