Carpentry Teacher

Location: South Norwood
Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Carpentry Teacher to join our dedicated Construction & Trades department in South Norwood. The successful candidate will inspire, motivate, and guide learners across a range of ages and abilities, helping them develop the technical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in the carpentry and construction industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical carpentry lessons to students on vocational courses (Levels 1–3).

  • Support learners in developing workshop and site-based skills, ensuring safe working practices at all times.

  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement within the department.

  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and resources to a high standard.

About You

  • Qualified to Level 3 (or higher) in Carpentry and Joinery (or a related discipline).

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.

  • Strong industry background and up-to-date knowledge of construction practices.

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.

  • Passionate about supporting young people and adult learners to achieve their goals.
