Burnley Primary - Year 1/Year 2 TA

A Primary School located outside Burnley Town centre, are looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Support Assistant to join their motivational and accomplished team. The role is to deliver Phonics Interventions to groups of pupils across Key stage one. You will have a structured time table and work with groups of Year 1 and Year 2 children in order to boost their current Phonics knowledge. The position is to work 6.5 hours a day, Monday - Friday; working with groups of children who have a range of abilities and all have different requirements. The role will be starting on Tuesday 23rd of April, after the Easter holidays.

Due to this, the Head Teacher has stated she wants a Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with children who are 'Below, At or Exceeding' Age Related Expectations. The School are currently using Letters and Sounds Phonics Scheme and the Head Teacher has stressed he wants to employ someone who has had training in delivering Phonics sessions. The priority aim is to raise the children's attainment and to give them a secure understanding of Phonics and further their development. The Head Teacher is also looking to a practitioner who has good Behaviour Management and who puts their knowledge and theory into practice.

This Primary School itself has a mixed catchment, with most children being predominantly white British. The Head Teacher said she is keen to continue to raise attainment throughout the School and wants the successful candidate to have a great work ethic and who can build solid and substantial relationships with the Pupils and Staff. He has also stated the pupils behaviour is 'Generally very good'.

The salary is based on a 6.5 hour per day position held Monday to Friday, and depending on experience, this could vary between £8.40-£10.50 per hour.
