Job description

We are looking for a confident, skilled, and highly motivated Level 3 KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and progressive school team. This role is ideal for someone who not only thrives in supporting children’s learning but is also experienced and comfortable leading whole-class learning when required.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers across Key Stage 2, supporting high‑quality teaching and learning, delivering small-group interventions, and providing reliable and effective class cover during PPA, staff absence, or planned release time.

Position: Level 3 Teaching Assistant (KS2)
Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Monday 13th April or ASAP
Salary: £14.15 - £15.25 per hour
Location: Burnley

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2, adapting to different year groups as needed
  • Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions to boost pupil progress
  • Confidently cover classes, following pre-prepared planning and maintaining high behaviour expectations
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Assist teachers in preparing resources and maintaining a purposeful learning environment
  • Support pupils with SEND where required
  • Contribute to assessments, record-keeping, and pupil progress discussions
  • Uphold the school’s values, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour policies

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential
  • Proven experience covering classes independently in KS2 – essential
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage whole classes confidently
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for supporting children to achieve their best
  • Ability to follow planning, adapt learning where needed, and maintain a calm, consistent classroom environment

If you are an experienced Level 3 TA with the confidence to lead KS2 classes and the passion to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send your CV, outlining your relevant experience as a Level 3 TA and include any experience you have had covering classes. Please note, you MUST hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
