Job description

Full time support role working from 830-1530 on a daily basis.

Ofsted GOOD School in the Centre of Burnley.

A school that have just started to use Teaching Personnel in the Burnley area have approached the agency in order to source and recruit a specialist teaching assistant who can work on a 121 basis alongside a child with challenging behaviour. The child is currently working in the Year 4 class and has had support in place up until Christmas, however, the support had to stop as the child moved to a referral unit until February half term. The child is expected to return to school on the first day back after the February half term holidays and so the school are eager to place an experienced practitioner in the role to support the child.

The child does hold a strong academic background but does struggle to be in the classroom without distracted others. The staff in school have used certain strategies and techniques to keep the child on task. The former support assistant was TEAM TEACH trained and the Head teacher has commented on the job specification that she would ideally like a member of staff who is trained and possibly experienced using verbal reasoning and positive handling.

This role will be to continue in school for as long as the child works in the classroom. The school are now expecting to keep the child until Y6. They are not keen on permanent exclusions nor do they want the child to work in the local referral unit. It is therefore important that the applying candidates and the successful one will be someone who can manage his behaviour and keep him in task.

If you are interested in applying and registering your interest then please contact me in the office on 01772 842154. You can also email me your CV and cover email to specify the relevant experiences.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
