Are you trained in British Sign Language looking to use your experience to make a difference in a young person's life?

We are looking for Teaching Assistants that are confident and capable in using British Sign Language. A fantastic specialist school in Leicestershire are looking to expand their team and are looking for both long term and short term specialists who can start immediately.

This setting is a specialist school, who educate pupils who are visually impaired, including those who are multi-disabled, visually impaired, deaf-blind and those with other complex needs. The staff team use a total communication approach combining lip-reading, use of residual hearing and sign supported English (SSE). Pupils with a range of hearing losses are helped to develop language skills, to make progress in their social and emotional development and to have confidence to learn.

The successful applicant will;

  • Hold BSL certification or have sign language experience as a bare minimum
  • Be confident supporting complex needs and willing to up-skill with training (provided on site) when required
  • Be resilient when facing emotional difficulties
  • Be passionate about making a difference in young people's life
