BSL SEN Teaching Assistant

An Outstanding Primary School in Tameside requires a Teaching Assistant who holds a British Sign Language qualification. Ideally you will hold a BSL level 2 or have attained a BSL Level 1 and are about to do your BSL level 2 course. School based experience is desirable but not essential. The school also caters for additional needs such as mental health, Autism or more severe and complex needs. The ideal candidate must be able to inspire and motivate these children through creative methods.

The school is looking for dedicated and knowledgeable individuals who want to make a difference and can support students with Hearing Impairment. The successful candidate will be able to assist in improving students learning and development. The ideal applicant for this role must have a minimum of a Level 2 in BSL however, candidates with a lower level of qualification and a high level of experience in using British Sign Language will also be considered.

Experience working in a Primary school would be beneficial and good communication skills would be essential.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a current fully enhanced DBS check ideally dated within 1 year or be on the update service
  • Have previous experience working within a primary education setting
  • 1:1 experience
  • Have minimum of BSL level 2
