- Work with a number of students who display a wide range of challenging behaviour

Situated a short journey from the centre of Oldham, our client is well-established and holds a positive reputation in the community due to a long standing history of supporting students academically and socially as the progress through education. The school is larger than most secondary schools with currently 1400 students aged 11-16 enrol, and is a mixed gender comprehensive. In recent years, the school has met or exceeded the governments' floor standards for the minimum expectations for students' levels of progress and attainment.

Whilst working as a behaviour teaching assistant, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with identified students with the aim of reducing the risk of exclusion, encouraging pupil participation in education and promoting maturity and social awareness by acting as a positive role model. A large majority of the working day will involve personal support and working with the key student on a 1:1 basis, particularly in areas in which challenging behaviour is regular.

Due to the nature of the post, previous experience working with students who display challenging behaviour in education would be preferred, but not essential. Those coming from a youth work, sports coaching or community background may also find this job rewarding and relatable to their previous experience.
