Behaviour Support Mentors needed in BD3 and BD7

The challenging and varied role of a Behaviour Support Worker is ideal for anyone hoping to make a positive impact on the lives of children and teenage students

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you'll offer practical help and emotional support to students who have difficulties expressing and communicating their emotions. You'll typically be working in small groups and in one to one situations.

The focus of your role is to provide support to students, empowering them to address various challenges, reducing problems and risks and, in some cases, helping to make sure they are always striving to achieve.

Job titles vary and you may also be known as a:

• Behaviour Support Specialist
• Behaviour role model
• Inclusion Support
• Learning Support Assistant
• Behaviour Buddy

You will need a fully enhanced DBS certificate on the DBS update service (can be applied for through Teaching Personnel) to be placed in the school

Responsibilities

Your role will vary depending on the needs of the student or students you’re helping, but you may also have a specialist area, depending on the schools focus for the student/students.

The challenges you may face could relate to:

• anti-social behaviour and social interaction
• bullying
• domestic violence and abuse
• education and learning
• language barriers
• Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties.

Salary-Hours-CPD

• Earn up to GBP300 per week on daily and weekly assignments
• Take part in our regular courses and training (safeguarding, behaviour management)
• Work in schools local to you that suit your preferences
• family support workers usually work 37 hours per week. There are also part-time, casual and job share options available

Work experience

You'll need relevant work experience with children and young people to work as Behaviour support worker. This can be either in a paid or voluntary capacity. You may also be able to find experience in:

• children's homes
• family community centres
• children refuge centres
• mental health services
• nurseries and schools
• probation services
• youth projects.

Experience in mentoring, advisory work, coaching, problem-solving and supporting children and adults is also helpful when applying for a post.

Our clients are a number of Schools locadted in and around BD3 and BD7. Both have easy access to public transport. It is also only a short walk from the city centre. We can offer the right teacher excellent additional training in our own CPD academy to support professional development
