Teaching Personnel is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in Secondary School for pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs). This school is an Outstanding School, providing an Alternative Provision for pupils who do not cope in mainstream settings. The school is actively looking for individuals, particularly those working in Behaviour support, to join their team from September 2020.
The ideal candidate would be someone who:
• Has experience in a secondary school environment
• Experience working with social, emotional and mental health
• Can keep calm under pressure
• Has a warm and friendly personality
The school caters for pupils aged 11-16. Some pupils will have identified special educational needs relating to their social, emotional and mental health needs, whereas other pupils may be in school due to permanent or temporary exclusions from mainstream settings. The school has small clas sizes, meaning pupils have focused time with their teacher. As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 8 pupils. In addition to this excellent pupil to adult ratio, the school also a fantastic and extended Pastoral team including a Transition Co-ordinator, Family Support Worker, and a Pupil Support Worker. This would ensure you are supported at all times during your employment and are able to give your very best to your pupils as they develop and mature.
Your role would be to provide positive reassurance to the pupil within the classroom and social interactions. This would include de-escalating difficult situations, providing motivational and emotional support in times of crisis and assisting with class work.
As this is a secondary provision you would have access to a wide range of facilities, such as classrooms, creative materials and outdoor equipment. Your use of this would be to inspire the young people you are working with as they move towards adulthood, careers or further education.
If you feel this would be the role for you and you can support these young people who need you then please contact Vicky at Teaching Personnel today!
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
