Are you wishing to pursue a career working with young people who display challenging behaviour?

Do you have previous experience working with children and young people in educational or Youth Group settings?

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a number of Behaviour Support Assistants, or "Behaviour Buddy'" to join our team for the new term.  In the role as a Behaviour Buddy you will be supporting a young person on a 1:1 basis who displays challenging behaviour.

About the role:

Working as a Behaviour Support Assistant you will be placed within a Secondary School in the Newport area. 

There are both full time and part time roles available. 

GBP300 - GBP350 weekly pay

The role of Behaviour Support Assistant will incorporate delivering short intervention strategies in meetings to improve behaviour whilst implementing the schools behaviour policy and monitoring progress.  

You will work directly with the schools Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and the class teachers to ensure all pupils are able to access learning and display positive behaviour.

This role is ideal for anyone looking to apply for a PGCE as it will give you the perfect opportunity to learn a range of behaviour management skills!

What makes a good "Behaviour Buddy"?

The successful Behaviour Buddy will be able to build relationships quickly and have a none judgemental mindset.

To be considered for this position you must have some experience (personal or professional) in dealing with challenging behaviours - this may be with children or adults in a challenging setting.

This role can be challenging however it's a very rewarding role for the right Behaviour Buddy who wants to make a difference in young learner's lives!

Past successful applicants for a Behaviour Buddy role have included:

  • Psychology Graduate
  • Sports Graduate
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants
  • Ex Police
  • Foster Carer

Requirements:

  • DBS on the update service - Teaching Personnel can help you apply for this if needed
  • EWC registered
  • You must be able to provide two references when asked.
  • Previous experience supporting children or vulnerable/challenging adults in some capacity.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
