Behaviour Support Assistant Needed

Bargoed, Caerphilly | Term-Time | Full-Time
Monday – Friday | 08:30 – 15:00 | £90 per day
Start Date: 5th January 2026
Contract: Until end of academic year (July 2026)

We’re delighted to be working with a dedicated Pupil Referral Unit in Bargoed who are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive, pupil-centred environment and is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.

Your Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for learners aged 11–18

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to create engaging, structured learning experiences

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and inclusion

  • Offer personalised support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and various social, emotional, and behavioural needs

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with ALN, SEBD, or behavioural needs

  • Backgrounds welcome from: behaviour support, youth work, police, prison service, armed forces, coaching (football, rugby, boxing), mentoring, support work, community work, or classroom roles such as Teaching Assistant

  • Confident using positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and participation

  • Empathetic, patient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with learners

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
