Are you caring, patient, and passionate about helping young people thrive? We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a KS3 pupil in a welcoming, mainstream secondary school in Caerphilly.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s educational journey — all while being part of a supportive, friendly school community.

About the School

This vibrant and inclusive secondary school has a fantastic community spirit and a strong commitment to supporting every learner. With engaging classrooms, a dedicated additional learning base, and approachable staff, it’s a place where both pupils and staff feel valued.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Ongoing guidance from a supportive SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

  • Excellent teaching resources and collaborative staff

  • Regular opportunities for professional development and training

We aim to have you fully cleared and familiar with the school before Christmas, so you can meet the team and start the new term with confidence.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with teachers to support students with a range of Additional Learning Needs (ALN) including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and social, emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to ensure all learners can thrive.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Gain valuable classroom experience to support your future career in teaching, youth work, or psychology.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need previous school experience — we welcome people from all backgrounds who have supported children, young people, or individuals with additional needs.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Transferable sector experience: Youth work or youth support work, Mental health support or wellbeing roles, Healthcare or care work, Coaching, mentoring, or community engagement
  • Excellent communication and listening skills

  • Patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence along wtih adaptability and problem-solving abilities

  • A positive, proactive attitude

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (we can help you apply)

  • EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration (we’ll assist with this too)

  • Two recent references from relevant roles

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Supportive, hands-on team that values every member of staff

  • The chance to make a meaningful impact every single day

  • A warm, inclusive, and well-resourced school environment

  • Continuous support with compliance, training, and career development

If you’re passionate about supporting young people and want to begin 2026 in a role that truly matters — apply today!
We can’t wait to welcome a caring and committed new member to the team.
