Are you available from September and looking for a role that can provide a stepping stone to a career in Education or working with young people.

I am looking for 2 Behaviour Mentors to work within a thriving school environment. The roll shall be working alongside students with a variety of Special Educational Needs with a particular focus on challenging behaviour. This Large Cardiff Secondary School has a behaviour base that focus' its support in this area. The school are specialists in this field and boast facilities that allow pupils to reach their full potential.

As a Behaviour Mentor you will be involved in working with a particular child usually on a 1:1 basis, and you will also be required work alongside other pupils and support staff; helping to support the teacher with tailored lessons that meet the specific needs of the students. You will actively support the student with academic development and also support them in meeting social and behavioural expectations.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a graduate who has a desire to train as a teacher or a psychology graduate who aims to become a clinical / child psychologist in the near future. This position would suit an innovative and cheerful graduate who has earned a second class degree or better and a true passion for SEN. Ideally, the school need a graduate who is able to display a varied approach to education and have an attitude that caters to all needs. The right applicant will have a success driven approach along with:

  • Experience of working with Special needs is desirable but not essential
  • Confidence in working with students with challenging behaviour
  • A passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • An understanding of how to establish positive working relationships
  • Ability to be a patient and positive role model
  • Available for work immediately
