Empower Growth. Create Calm. Make a Difference.

Are you calm, compassionate, and committed to helping children thrive? Do you believe in the power of consistency and connection? If so, this Behaviour Mentor role could be your next step.

We’re working with a supportive primary school in Cwmbran with a specialist provision for pupils with additional needs. The school is currently seeking a 1:1 Behaviour Mentor to support a Key Stage 1 child with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This role is ideal for someone who’s patient, dependable, and passionate about breaking down barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you'll work one-to-one with a pupil throughout the school day, supporting their emotional regulation, social skills, and engagement with learning.

You’ll play a key role in helping the child feel safe, understood, and valued, building the trust and structure they need to succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support during lessons and transitions

  • Building a strong, supportive relationship with the pupil

  • Using positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques

  • Supporting learning activities and emotional development

  • Following guidance from the SENCO and external professionals

  • Working closely with staff to promote a calm, inclusive environment

This is a highly rewarding role where your presence can transform a child’s school experience.

✅ Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. Whether you’ve worked in education, care, coaching, or youth support—or you’re just starting out but have the right mindset—we want to hear from you.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have experience with children or young people with EBD, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs

  • Stay calm and positive under pressure

  • Communicate clearly and build strong relationships

  • Be consistent, empathetic, and reliable

  • Understand the importance of safeguarding and inclusion

  • Be proactive and able to work well as part of a team

You don’t need to be a qualified teacher or TA—your life experience and commitment to making a difference could be just what this child needs. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
