Job description

Teaching personnel are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work full-time in Havant at a local Secondary SEMH provision. The school promotes an all inclusive for SEN students, so as the Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for helping maintain a supportive classroom.

In recent years the school has undergone a refurbishment and has developed into a modern looking school with good facilities. They operate using small class sizes, typically 6-8 students to one teacher and 1-2 Teaching Assistants in order to allow for greater support. Various learning difficulties are present at the school including ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism and a large majority of the pupils demonstrate challenging behaviour. Students at the school have been excluded from or have never accessed mainstream education. Each pupil will have their own Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

The ideal candidate will be very passionate and motivated to assist pupils to reach their full potential. You will be hard working, organised and hold very good communication skills. Previous experience in SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential providing additional relevant experience. Team teach, Safeguarding, and Autism Awareness training is also desirable but not essential. Training can be provided through Teaching Personnel's CPD Academy.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
