Autism Teaching Assistant

We are currently partnered with an Outstanding school based in Enfield (EN1) who are looking for an ambitious and capable special education needs experienced teaching assistant to join their team. You will be working in a year 2 classroom alongside 2 other teaching assistants and a teacher so you are amply supported in helping to guide the education of these children. All children within the school have a diagnosis of Autism, so individuals with experience working with Autism either from personal experiences or school based placements are highly desireable.

You will be working in a year 2 classroom which has 7 students with Autism and other complex needs. The children in this class have quite severe learning difficulties and speech and language difficulties so if you have experience using Makaton, BSL or PECS this will come in very useful in the school as many students have mild to moderate speech and language difficulties so non-verbal communication is key to their learning. If you have not got experience with this, fear not as the school are very commited to training new members to their staff on this.

This class uses a large amount of sensory play to stimulate and accomodate students of different abilities. Due to the complex needs of this class ideal applicants will ahve worked in a school or support work setting with children with special needs previously and be comfortable with personal care.

This is a full-time position with the offer of a permanent contract to applicants who excell in the school.

The ideal candidate will:

-Have experience working with children with Autism or other complex/profund learning difficulties

-Have some experience using non-verbal communicatin

-Be organised and proactive

-Be available full-time till the end of the school year

Interviews are being held to fill this position ASAP, with the position lasting to the end of the school year.

Day rates- GBP60-GBP75
