Autism Support Assistant required - Nelson Primary School
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are currently looking to appoint a teaching assistant on a long term basis to work in a Nelson Primary School on a 1:1 basis with a child in Y2 who has funded support for her learning needs and behaviour.
The Head teacher in school has commented that 'the young girl needs a routine and structure- the successful candidate will need to have experience with Autism and associated behavioural needs- we use a range of strategies in the Year 2 class to ensure the child is catered for and can meet all learning objectives - requires a firm but fair approach.
The school received GOOD from Ofsted back in 2017 during a full inspection. The school is located within a 'deprived' part of Nelson and predominately Asian heritage children attend. The school is 5 minutes for the town centre. The majority of children arrive at school working below expected levels. However there are more children arriving in school who require additional support, including EAL.
The role is to start as soon as possible, due to funding and will continue, five days a week until at least December 2019, with the probability of going onto a school contract. In the past, the school have used the agency to shortlist, appoint and then contract on a temp to perm basis.
If you are interested in the above role, or would like any further information then please do not hesitate to contact me in the office on 01772 842155 or by email at
