Are you looking for a full time teaching assistant position?

Would you like to work in an Ofsted rated 'good' SEN primary school?

Are you looking for the opportunity to work with children diagnosed with mild to severe autism?

I would like to hear from you if the answer to these questions is yes! I am working with a large primary autism school that caters for many students who are non-verbal. They are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join their supportive staff team, starting full time in January 2019.

It would be beneficial if you have experience of working with children who have severe special needs, or knowledge of PECs, Makaton or British Sign Language. I would also welcome an application from you if you have experience working in the care sector, as assisting with toileting and changing will become a part of this role.

The position available is to work in a key stage 1 class of just eight students, supporting the class teacher and working collaboratively with 3 other teaching assistants who will be in the room. There will be sensory work involved in the structure for each day, including the use of sensory rooms, sensory activities and a sensory garden.

Relevant training in Makaton, PECS, Team Teach, TEACCH, ABA, moving and handling, first aid or safeguarding is desirable however not essential. Once registered with Teaching Personnel you will be eligible to book yourself onto any of the training courses that we offer, which will either be free or at a reduced cost. The school will also invest in your development - you will be eligible to attend all whole school INSET training days and you will be enrolled on a full induction programme.

To find out more about this role, or to apply for it, send your CV for consideration today.
