Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a co-educational day and boarding preparatory school for children aged 7 to 13 which includes a pre-prep department for children aged 2 to 6. The school upholds high standards of academic achievement as well as a very full range of extra-curricular opportunities. It is a vibrant and busy school with high expectations in all areas.
There is a very strong musical tradition at the school and has a flourishing music department which is housed in an extensive suite of rooms for class and individual teaching. Most children learn a musical instrument, all children sing in one or more choirs and there are orchestras and ensembles. The school theatre is used for the regular concerts, dramatic and musical productions as well as a professional concert series during the course of the year.
There are fourteen visiting instrumental teachers and the music department comprises of two class music teachers, of which this appointment will be one.
The successful candidate will be prepared to be involved in all aspects of life at the school and support the Director of Music and visiting instrumental teachers in the day to day management of a very busy department.
The school are seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Music for September 2019, whose role will include teaching class music to a range of pupils between the ages of 7 and 13, encouraging and promoting music-making generally throughout the school and teaching individual instrumental lessons and theory classes.
The successful candidate must have outstanding piano skills and a reputation as a first class piano teacher. He/she will be expected to accompany the school's choirs, orchestras, ensembles, school productions, Associated Board examinations and religious services.
