ASC Specialist Support Assistant

A specialised school situated in Portsmouth is looking for TA's who want to work on a day to day or Permanent basis! The school caters for children who have a mix of abilities, but all have Autism and other complex needs. Some will be verbal, others requiring support with routines, PECS and Singalong.

The school is on a large outdoor site and promote outdoor activities regardless of the weather! You will be required to be available at least 3 days a week, ready for early morning bookings and happy to work 8.30am to 3.30pm.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist students with their physical, emotional and academic needs
• Enabling learners to access the curriculum
• Support the pastoral needs of the learners
• Be an active part in setting the learning environment
• Supporting learners on a 1:1 base and part of a small group in a range of activities throughout the day.

As well continuous support for the pupil, the behaviour will also be required to provide general support with the rest of the class:

• Delivering tailored learning activities prepared by the teacher
• Supporting the social and emotional development of students, raising any concerns as per the school’s policy and protocols.
• Ensuring that all pupils can engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity
• Display patience, understanding and commitment
• Show patience and understanding towards challenging behaviour

The Role:

• Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting assistants and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils.
• The role will operate between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday.
• Full time is preferred but part time applicants may still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
