Teaching Personnel are seeking to recruit an Alternative Provision Tutor for a Secondary school in Northampton!
Job Title: Alternative Provision Tutor
Salary: NJC 12, FTE £27,711 per annum (pro rata: £24,340.74)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Job Overview
An inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school is seeking a compassionate and proactive Alternative Provision Tutor to join its dedicated support team. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and development of the school’s Internal Alternative Provision
- Deliver effective behaviour and learning support strategies
- Encourage student engagement and focus through individualised approaches
- Use de-escalation techniques in managing challenging behaviour
- Monitor pupil progress, set behaviour and academic targets, and track improvements
- Maintain regular, positive communication with parents and carers
- Liaise with internal staff and external agencies to support student outcomes
- Coordinate and facilitate academic work in the provision setting
- Support the reintegration of students back into mainstream classes
- Work closely with SEND teams and pastoral staff to address individual needs
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- GCSE/NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Experience working with young people in an educational or Alternative Provision setting
- A strong understanding of positive behaviour management strategies
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build respectful, supportive relationships
- An understanding of how to meet the needs of SEND and vulnerable pupils
- Knowledge of the national curriculum and personalised learning approaches
- A flexible, team-oriented attitude and a calm, consistent approach
- Awareness of safeguarding, inclusion, and support practices in education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
