Job description

Have you previously been a 'learning mentor’, ‘learning support assistant’ or a ‘subject support assistant’? If so, please apply for the following role!

1-1 Academic Support Assistant


You will be required to support children on a 1-1 basis, teaching them daily Maths and/or English to reduce the difference in attainment and make increased progress with their core subjects. You will be there to help motivate the children remove the barriers from previous underachievement.

As well as working 1-1, you will have a small group of 4-5 pupils for roughly 1 hour once or twice per week. In your intervention group, you will be encouraging the learning of Phonics, Maths, Writing and Reading.

What is required:

  • Experience with Pinny time
  • Experience with Read Write Inc Phonics
  • Experience with PENPALS Handwriting scheme
  • Experience with Accelerated Reader
  • Experience with Times Table Rock stars

This role is dependent on the school’s needs once the children have settled, therefore a start date has not been discussed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
