Academic Learning Mentor - Science - Trafford

The secondary school based in Sale is looking to appoint an Academic Learning Mentor to support the students leading up to their GCSE's on a full time contract. The position will start in January 2019 and will continue towards the end of the academic year. If you are a recent graduate in a Science based subject and looking to progress towards PGCE/ITT, then this would be an ideal position for you.

Whilst working as an Academic Learning Mentor you will be able to develop on your classroom awareness and have more experience within a secondary school environment. The new academic learning mentor will need to be passionate about Science and be confident delivering interventions of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Academic Learning Mentor:

**Assisting students in their Science GCSE exams

**Working closely in small groups of students and 1 to 1 support

**FT position working Monday to Friday with competitive rates of pay

**Secondary School in Sale with good public transport links on-site car parking

**Platform to develop teaching skills and Science subject knowledge

The Sale secondary school is looking to appoint an Academic Learning Mentor with good subject knowledge in all three sciences and be able support KS4 students with confidence. You work closely with the established science department where they would provide support when needed. The role will would be ideal for an aspiring future teacher as the experience gained from the role can provide confidence and improve behaviour management. The learning mentor should be confident and be able to inspire students who may be struggling with their academic studies.

The Academic Learning Mentor will support small groups of students in year 10 to fulfil their potential and provide a boost for struggling students with the science subject. You will also be required to work on a one to one basis with Year 11 students for extra support for their exams. You will also deliver small interventions across both year 11 & 10 across your weekly timetable but will be assisting the class teachers on day to day basis. There will be a number of other graduates working as teaching assistants who will be able to support you in your first few weeks of the role

Trams and buses are available on a regular basis and the school has an on-site carpark for those who may choose to drive. Please note you do not need to have prior experience of delivering intervention sessions similar to this, however if you do have experience in tutoring or assisting in classes this would be advantageous.
