Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school located in North Leeds in LS17. Please see details below:

We are looking for 2 Teaching Assistants to join us in our growing 3 year old nursery to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Nursery setting. The working pattern for this role is Mon-Thur 08:30 - 16:30, Friday 08:30 - 16:00.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

* To support working relationships with the children, acting as a role model and setting high expectations

* To support children in their learning

* To meet the personal care needs of children whilst encouraging their independence where possible

* To encourage children to interact and work co-operatively, ensuring all children are engaged with activities

* To provide support in the delivery of EYFS curriculum

* Liaise with parents/carers and other family members

* To be flexible within working practices of the setting, be prepared to help where needed.

* Work as a team member

* The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development

* To respect the confidentiality of information received

* To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children in the workplace, ensuring policies and procedures are observed at all times.

* To keep records up to date and ensure paperwork is handled appropriately

Skills & Attributes

Essential:

* Good communications skills

* Ability to motivate children and sustain their interest in play activities

* Current knowledge of practices to safeguard children and understanding of responsibility in the protection of children and promotion of their well being

* Able to work in a responsive partnership with parents and carers

* Able to support children and families in a culturally sensitive, positive and non-judgemental way

* Able to support development of children with special educational needs in an inclusive setting

* A minimum of a relevant NVQ Level 2 qualification

* GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

* Current knowledge of practices to safeguard children and understanding of responsibility in the protection of children and promotion of their well being

* Experience of professional work in a nursery or childcare environment

* Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage

Desirable:

* Able to support the production of effective plans which support children's learning an development in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

* Able to prepare written reports to support children's development and wellbeing as they progress through the EYFS

* Able to offer positive support to children's development and the promotion of their wellbeing as they progress through the EYFS

* Experience of working in a child protection environment
