English Teacher
Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting supporting young people with SEMH and Autism.
This role is ideal for a teacher who understands that strong relationships, emotional intelligence, and adaptability are just as important as subject knowledge. You will deliver engaging English lessons up to GCSE level, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs and helping students rediscover confidence in learning.
The Role
- Teach English up to GCSE level, using creative and flexible approaches
- Plan and deliver lessons that meet a wide range of emotional, social, and learning needs
- Support students to develop communication skills, self-belief, and resilience
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, nurturing support
- Create a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with SEN, particularly SEMH and/or Autism
- Strong emotional, social, and communication skills
- A resilient and reflective approach to teaching and behaviour
- High levels of self-awareness and emotional literacy
- Flexibility and openness to change in a dynamic setting
- The ability to think creatively and adapt teaching styles
- A good sense of humour and the ability to remain calm under pressure

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
