Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Fixed Term)
Contract: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days)
Contract Type: Fixed term until 31st August 2026
Location: Shaftesbury
Start Date: September 2025
We are seeking a caring, empathetic, and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is a fixed-term role providing individual support to a named child, helping them reach their full potential both academically and personally.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in a child’s educational journey. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and wider school staff to ensure the child feels safe, supported, and included in all aspects of school life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual learning and care needs
- Support the child’s emotional, social, and academic development in the classroom and during school activities
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENDCo, and parents to adapt and implement learning strategies
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Assist with record keeping and carry out observations as needed
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young children, ideally in a primary school setting
- Understands the importance of consistency and trust in supporting children
- Is patient, nurturing, and adaptable to the changing needs of a child
- Has strong communication skills and works effectively as part of a team
- Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) or has equivalent experience (desirable, but not essential)
- DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Provide reference information for previous 24 months of employment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
