My client school is a secondary pupil referral unit in South Manchester who require a specialised Teaching Assistant (Behaviour Support) to support a pupil 1:1 with severe social, emotional and mental health challenges. This position is due to start in September 2018 and likely to continue until the end of the academic year, however will be reviewed on a termly basis alongside the pupils EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan). The role requires the Teaching Assistant to support with the pupils school based lessons and be able to work collaboratively with Teachers with focus on pupil progression. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has substantial experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviours and mental health needs as well as classroom experience.
The school caters for up to 120 pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs across two sites in South Manchester. This school caters for pupils who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and are in need or more specialised, supported learning. One site runs vocational courses such as joinery, building and motor-vehicle where as the other focus' more on educational progression. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have;
- Experience with dis-engaged young people
- A passion for working with young people
- Resilient character
- Team - Teach or similar qualification
- DBS on the update (due to being an immediate start)
- Any relevant qualifications in relation to education or youth work are desirable
