Teaching Personnel are working with a primary school based in Macclesfield who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in September, supporting a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a full-time role during term time, working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to provide tailored, consistent support to help the child thrive in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD in a mainstream classroom
  • Support the child’s learning, social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation
  • Implement strategies from EHCP
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and inclusion within the school community

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children with ASD or other SEN
  • Be patient, nurturing, and calm when faced with challenging behaviour
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong background in SEN, particularly ASD
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding training upon registering with Teaching Personnel

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
