Youth Worker - Rochdale

Teaching Personnel is working on behalf of a PRU located in Rochdale. The setting provides education for pupils who are out of mainstream education for a variety of reasons which may include: exclusion, emotional and behavioural difficulties, medical reasons, pregnancy and young mothers.

The setting is currently recruiting for a Qualified Youth Worker who can start as soon as possible. The position is full time and will involve working 9 - 3.30 for 5 days a week. The main aim of the setting is to integrate pupils back into mainstream wherever possible. The pupils who attend this setting often show signs of challenging behaviour and may have aggressive outbursts, so therefore the behaviour assistant should have experience of dealing with pupils who display challenging behaviour.

The role will involve working in co-operation with the classroom teacher to deliver targeted interventions that are designed to foster and encourage the optimal development of pupils with SEN,

Ideally the behaviour support assistant will have:

• Experience working with and delivering interventions to pupils who display challenging behaviour
• Desirably Team- Teach trained (Teaching Personnel provide training)
• Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification (Level 3 desirable)
• A sound knowledge of crisis prevention tactics
