Youth Worker - Darley, Harrogate
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are currently working with a Primary and Secondary school in Darley, Harrgoate (HG3) that are looking to appoint a Youth Worker who can support the students there in an Inclusion, Teaching Assistant and Behaviour Support capacity. The school is easily accessible by public transport from surrounding areas and the role is full time and likely to go permanent depending on your success in the position.
The school caters to students that have been excluded from mainstream education, for various reasons, and now come to this smaller than average alternative provision to access their education. The class sizes are very small and there is a lot of support in each one which means that the students can get the 1:1 time that they need and that they are offered a more person centred approach to their learning. The students tend to have Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues and come from complex, disadvantaged and Looked After backgrounds. As a result they tend to be disengaged, both academically and socially, and display challenging behaviour.
We are looking for someone who is resilient, have strong behaviour management skills and can be nurturing, focusing on the reasons and motives behind negative behaviours rather than punishing the behaviour itself.
The benefits of working with Teaching Personnel are:
- The opportunity to go onto a permanent contract with the school
- The opportunity to work with an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' agency
- The dedicated support of a specialist consultant
- Access to up to date and ongoing CPD and training
