Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit an experienced Youth Worker for employment in an established Alternative Provision in Manningham, Bradford.

We are looking for a committed and hardworking individual who would be happy supporting challenging pupils in an education setting. You must have a working knowledge of meeting the emotional, social and mental health needs of young people and a desire to take a supporting role in the classroom.

The school caters for pupils that are of a vulnerable and sometimes challenging nature. As a Youth Worker, you will work closely with your colleagues to create action plans for students across Key Stages 3 and 4, taking an active role in implementing a programme that positively encourages learners to overcome barriers to learning, improve their skills and ultimately gain recognised qualifications. You will work with students during lessons in core subjects (Functional Skills Maths and English), and you may also deliver sessions focusing on practical or vocational subjects including Animal Care, Construction and/or Physical Education. The school operates a working farm, so you must be comfortable working around animals and livestock. In addition to supporting access to learning, you will also be expected to contribute to the daily running of the school which includes preparing meals for students, general cleaning, and upkeep of the buildings and communal areas.

You will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of the key issues currently affecting young people.

This is a full-time (35.75 hours per week, term time only) role on a fixed term basis until July 2020. Following this period, you may have an opportunity to apply for a permanent role, pending further funding.
