Our client school in Ashton (OL7) have the need for a youth work teaching assistant to join there team starting after February half term, supporting the learning of disengaged pupils and those who display signs of challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school.
The Ashton primary school wish to add a youth work teaching assistant to join them on a full time basis, supporting key students across KS1 and KS2. You will be working with pupils who have been identified as high risk of exclusion, and the position will consist of working in one-to-one or group sessions with these pupils, along with supporting them alongside the classroom teacher.
The school is a larger than average primary school in Ashton, Tameside, OL7 which has excellent public transport links from the town centre. The school serves a diverse catchment area with a number of pupils speaking English as an Additional Language and pupils with Special Educational Needs. The Headteacher has made a number of changes across the school which has lead to improvements in teaching and learning, and results have climbed year on year.
Requirements for youth work teaching assistant;
* Recent experience in youth work capacity, school or non-school based
* Previous experience working with pupils who display challenging behaviour
* Calm and comforting manner to support students who may be from vulnerable backgrounds

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
