Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference? Do you want a career in education? Do you have experience in Special Educational Needs or Mental Health?

Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint an Inclusion Support/Youth Worker for a large and busy school based in Scisset, Huddersfield (HD8). The school is easily accessibly by public transport links from Leeds, Wakefield, Huddersfield and surrounding areas. The setting is an Alternative Provision that provides a safe and nurturing environment for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. The role is full time and after a successful 12 week probation period you will be offered the opportunity to go onto a permanent contract with the school.

You will be based in a newly built setting that spans across 6 acres of beautiful grounds. The provision includes a greenhouse and farm addition that allows the students to utilise the world around them, learn life and social skills and engage with each other and staff in a fun way. The students tend to come from complex and disadvantaged backgrounds and, as a result, tend to be disengaged from their learning and display verbally and physically challenging behaviour. We are looking for someone who has effective behaviour management and de-escalation skills but who can also be nurturing and therapeutic in their approach. If you have experience working with adults or children with mental health issues or Special Needs then we encourage you to apply.

Your responsibilities within the school will be to:

  • Work 1:1 and with small groups of students to help deliver the work set by the class teacher
  • Have and manage difficult conversations surrounding subjects such as bullying, substance misuse and familial issues
  • Manage challenging behaviour
  • Engage the students through activities and vocational options
  • Help to signpost where the students are at in their learning and create plans to challenge them further
  • Ease their transition from mainstream settings into the school

The benefits of working with Teaching Personnel are:

  • The opportunity to go into a permanent role
  • Ongoing training and CPD
  • The dedicated support of your specialist consultant
  • Flexible working hours and fantastic rates of pay
